Harlem Globetrotters Game Review
Review by: Hashtag Boy Mom
I grew up in South Florida and I distinctly remember seeing the Globetrotter Games as a young child a few times. I was amazed from the very first time I went! If you have never experienced a Harlem Globetrotter game, you really need to check them out when they come to your area! Basketball is something I played (for a short time) growing up so I was very interested in the trick shots and the performance the team put on. Things are different now than they were when I was a kid; Back in the 1990’s, there were more props like mini trampolines to help with the trick shots but if I had to guess, that changed and they were eliminated due to safety reasons. Now the players have to depend solely on their talent and their own bodies to perform the trick shots and other entertainment. They are so talented! This isn’t just your ordinary basketball game with some fancy moves. This is a true show. There is a great storyline that is catered to your area and I can guarantee you will be laughing the entire time!
We found parking right next to the stadium which was ideal because the show started at 7pm and would last until close to 9pm, and I didn’t want to walk in Nashville that late at night with two kids to wherever we parked. I guess the joke was on us because when we went to pay for our parking, it was $50!!! We paid it anyway, because of the convenience of its location. The worst part is once we walked out of our parking lot, there was $20 parking right across the street. We couldn’t believe it – but we decided to just let it go and enjoy our night because this experience was for my kiddos and that’s all that matters! We spent $30 on my pretzel, 2 slices of pizza and 4 drinks. We also ended up spending $85 at the fan store, which got us 2 basketballs and a tour shirt. Plan to bring some spending money because things aren’t cheap!
This show is so entertaining. There isn’t a slow moment and you really need to pay attention so you don’t miss anything! One of my favorite things about the Harlem Globetrotters is that they are a coed team. Yep, there is a women on their team!! This is pretty powerful for us females out there!
This tour is a tribute to Curly Neal, who played over 6,000 games in 97 countries. His jersey number was #22 – a number well-earned and represented by him as he played for 22 seasons from 1963-1985. He passed away in March of 2020 at the age of 77. He had a spectacular career!
We took some fun videos as well, which you can find on our Instagram account! Make sure to give us a follow over there as well!
